Founder Garrett Smith began with a personal interest after retiring from the military. Garrett served our country in the United State Coast Guard for five years and retired following a debilitating seizure disorder. . The Herbal Alternative grows their flower in 100% organic soil, year round. Garrett’s cultivation techniques yield only the highest quality, producing the cleanest, most potent and aromatic buds available in Colorado."

Not the cheapest in town but by far the most knowledgeable staff and great products. You won't feel like your being rushed out of there.....I have spent $10 on a joint and hundreds on assorted concentrates dollar amount doesn't matter you are treated the same.

I think The Herbal Alternative is the best Medical & Recreational Dispensary in Cortez. I like that they grow their own plants. I also like the variety of different Edibles and Concentrates to choose from. AND they have Daily Specials..... DAILY!!!! How can you beat that? Their staff is always welcoming and knowledgeable about the products that are sold there. Oh yeah... the view is AMAZING. You will not be disappointed by shopping at The Herbal Alternative.

The Herbal Alternative is the best dispensary in SW Colorado. Other dispensaries offer a lower quality product for cheaper, but as the saying goes: you get what you pay for. Oliver was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable, both about their products and the chemistry involved in marijuana production and consumption. This place is the real deal!

The product, flower and concentrates alike, are minimal and not available readily for medical patients at this location. Far too often this is the case. Not much concern from management. After 6 years of patronage we will be taking our business elsewhere.
