Ever since the shop opened it is has remained such an awesome place. They still have amazing gifts, incense, art, etc. And the owners are still such amazing people who love their community with all their heart. This is a shop I highly recommend coming to.

Sweet chill place! The owner makes all the incense and the smells are extremely accurate! The art is local and it's always pleasant to see all the different styles. I've gotten quite a few gifts for friends and family here because there's always something unique that I know they'd love.
I'm constantly going "oooooh look at this!" like every minute with all the vast variety of knick-knacks. It's honestly eye candy everywhere you look 😂😂😂
I love getting different works from multiple artists to put on my walls and this is my first stop.

Owner was friendly and helpful. There wasn't a card machine, be sure to bring cash. This shop was a fun and unique find in the area.

I love Ty and his shop. It is always best to shop local and support your small businesses, and not only do you do that here but he encourages you to do it in the other small businesses in town and will give great recomendations. He displays our local artists amazing works, sells a lot of handmade and personal gifts. I enjoy going in to check out his new incense that he makes himself. This is THE place to check out and support!

Fantastic service and community, the owners and worker were very kind and generous. They held fun conversation too, everything in the store was varied and quality, and the whole store smelled excellent. The local art added such a beautiful atmosphere and you can tell it's a store that cares deeply about cedar city.

Disclosure: As of this review, I'm currently one of the featured artists at this shop, and I want to make that clear from the get-go, so it's out in the open. With that said, I'll speak firstly as a customer and then re: the artist-merchant relationship.
Octopus Apothecary features a small but carefully-curated selection of products for sale. I'm particularly glad that the Apothecary began carrying bags of coffee as I've developed a taste for small roastery coffee. I also tend to stock up on incense, particularly bakery scents and cafe scents. I would like to see a greater selection of journals, particularly unlined ones, but the quality of existing journals is still high.
As for an artist who's looking for a merchant through whom to sell their work: the owner is reasonable, starting with a 50-50 commission (Normally, an agency or gallery might expect a larger chunk, 70% if not more). You will be vetted to see if your style is a "fit" for the store, and I have had some of my pieces rejected not for lack of skill. Rather, the owner wants to maintain certain clients, and so, if he rejects a piece because of subject matter, it's about preserving the brand (and having been through lecture after lecture about brand sensitivity, I get it!). I recommend the Apothecary, even if your work is not a fit for the store because you can still receive constructive criticism.
